IMAGE LICENSING GUIDE
All final images are supplied by Faye Thomas on a licensed basis. This means that while you are granted permission to use your photographs for agreed purposes, copyright and ownership of the images always remain with the Photographer.
For more details please see my booking terms & conditions.
Most of my film industry clients find that my Standard Headshots Licence provides everything they need. However, if your requirements extend beyond those uses, enhanced and bespoke licensing options are available.
Standard Film Industry Headshots Licence
Included with all headshot sessions
Subject to payment in full, the Client is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable Licence to Use the Photographs for the following purposes only:
- Spotlight (including spotlight.com and associated publications);
- IMDb (www.imdb.com);
- Agency, management and representation websites and social media accounts;
- The Client's own personal websites, portfolios, business cards and personal social media accounts;
- Theatre programmes; and
- The following named Film and Theatre industry trade publications only: Deadline, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The Wrap, Backstage, Screen Daily and The Stage.
The Licence to Use is granted solely to the Client. No third-party rights are granted, assigned or implied. The Photographer's credit, "Faye Thomas", should accompany all published reproductions of the Photographs wherever reasonably practicable. Where images are shared on social media, the Client should credit @fayethomasphoto in both the caption and tag, and use reasonable endeavours to ensure that third parties acting on their behalf do the same. The Photographs may not be altered, manipulated, edited or otherwise modified by the Client or any third party without the Photographer's prior written consent. This includes, but is not limited to, the application of filters, AI-generated modifications, the creation of derivative works, or the removal or alteration of metadata. Any use falling outside the scope of this Licence, including but not limited to publication in mainstream press, newspapers, magazines, editorial features, third-party websites not listed above, merchandise, book or album covers, production artwork, billboards, commercial advertising campaigns, marketing materials, or any other print or digital distribution, requires the Photographer's prior written approval and may be subject to additional licensing fees.
For the vast majority of actors and performers, this licence provides comprehensive coverage for everyday professional use.

Editorial & Press Licensing
An enhanced Editorial & Press Licence is available for clients planning publicity campaigns, working with a publicist or PR representative, undertaking press interviews, or anticipating media coverage beyond the scope of the Standard Film Industry Licence.
This licence is ideal for:
- Magazine features and editorial interviews;
- Press junkets and publicity tours;
- Book launches and author publicity campaigns;
- Film, television and theatre release campaigns;
- Festival appearances and promotional activity;
- Press releases and media kits; and
- Clients working with publicists, PR teams or management companies coordinating press opportunities.
Examples of permitted usage may include:
- National and regional newspapers;
- Consumer magazines;
- Editorial websites;
- Press releases;
- Festival programmes;
- Publicity surrounding television, theatre or film releases; and

Editorial & Press Licences are tailored to the specific requirements of each project, taking into account the publication, circulation, territory, duration and extent of the intended usage. As every publicity campaign is unique, enhanced Editorial & Press Licences are quoted on a bespoke basis; from one-off single image licensing for a specific publication to a full portfolio of images licensed for publicity and media kits. Pricing will depend on the nature of the campaign and the scope of the intended usage.
If you anticipate undertaking a publicity campaign or working with a publicist, I recommend arranging an enhanced Editorial & Press Licence at the outset to ensure your images can be used seamlessly as press opportunities arise.
Publisher Licensing
For authors, journalists and publishers requiring image usage in connection with a specific publication.
This may include:
- Book jackets and covers
- Interior book usage
- E-books and digital editions
- Publisher websites
- Marketing and promotional activity relating to the publication
Publisher licences can be structured for individual titles, specific editions, or wider publishing campaigns. For straightforward publishing requirements, a simple flat-fee licence may be available. However, where usage extends across multiple territories, editions, formats or promotional channels, licensing will be quoted on a bespoke basis to reflect the scope of the intended use. Fees may vary depending on factors including the territory of publication, print run, duration of use, languages and editions involved, the extent of associated publicity and marketing activity, and whether the licence relates to a single title or a broader publishing campaign. If you are unsure which option best suits your project, please get in touch. I am always happy to discuss your requirements and recommend the most appropriate and cost-effective licensing solution.

Commercial licences are individually quoted and reflect factors such as audience size, territory, duration and exclusivity.

Exclusivity & Confidentiality
Standard licences are non-exclusive.
If you require:
- Exclusive usage rights;

these can usually be accommodated by prior agreement and may incur additional fees.
AI & Machine Learning
No rights are granted for the use of the Photographs in connection with artificial intelligence, machine learning or biometric technologies.
The Photographs may not be used, uploaded, submitted, scraped, reproduced or otherwise supplied, directly or indirectly, to train, test, develop, optimise or improve any artificial intelligence system, machine learning model, dataset, facial-recognition technology, generative technology or similar automated system.
